Overview: Our facility in Gainesville, FL, is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) PACU to join our healthcare team. As a PACU nurse, your primary role is to care for both adult and pediatric patients before and after surgery, including those who have received various types of anesthesia. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a supportive and collaborative team that treats each other like family. π€
Key Responsibilities:
- π©Ί Apply nursing process knowledge in the peri-operative setting
- π Monitor patients' medical conditions and promptly report any significant changes to the physician or anesthesiologist/CRNA
- π£οΈ Explain nursing procedures and actions to patients
- π Assess, collaborate, and coordinate patients' discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge in conjunction with the care team
- π Manage hemodynamic monitoring
- π Titrate pressors, sedation, heparin, insulin drips based on established protocols
- π Instruct patients in post-procedure self-care techniques
Additional Position Details:
- β° This position can be scheduled as either 3-12 hour shifts or 4-10 hour shifts
- π On-call responsibilities are required, with candidates expected to live within a 30-45 minute radius for prompt availability
- π° Differentials apply for on-call shifts, additional differentials for working while on-call, and a minimum pay amount when RNs are used for less than 2 hours
- π On-call nights and 2 weekend days per month, totaling 5-6 call shifts per month, in addition to regular shifts. On-call differential rate is $2.00 per hour
- π Shift work differential while on call is $25.00 per hour with a minimum of 2 hours paid
- ποΈ Scheduled shifts typically fall on Mondays to Fridays
Experience Requirements:
- π 1 year of experience in Critical Care (e.g., ICU, CVICU, MICU) or PACU is required
- π©Έ Experience in managing hemodynamic monitoring is required
- π Experience in titrating pressors, sedation, heparin, and insulin drips based on protocols is required
Certification/Licensure Requirements:
- π An Associate Degree in Nursing or a Diploma in Nursing is required; a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred
- π Candidates must hold a Florida RN license and/or an approved multistate RN license
- β€οΈ BLS (American Heart Association BLS Provider issued card) is required
- β€οΈ ACLS (American Heart Association ACLS Provider issued card) is required
- β€οΈ PALS (American Heart Association PALS Provider issued card) is required
- π ASPAN certification is preferred
