Assistant/Assoicate Professor - Accounting

Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.The School of Accounting in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor to begin in spring or fall 2023. Candidates must have a record demonstrating excellence in teaching, must hold a doctorate (or must have earned a doctorate before the start date), and must have completed at least 18 graduate hours of accounting coursework. Professional experience and CPA certification are strongly preferred.

The School of Accounting will consider applicants from all research and teaching areas. Qualified candidates should have a demonstrated record of publishing, or the potential to publish, in top-tier and sectional-level academic accounting journals and a desire to participate in doctoral education.

The teaching load for this position is three courses per year for three years. Salary and benefits are highly competitive, including guaranteed summer research support for three years. Funding also is available for data and conference travel. Candidates who have very strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are encouraged to apply. Service duties include program-building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, university, and community is expected. 

Established in 1923, Texas Tech University (TTU) is a public research university in Lubbock, Texas. The Rawls College of Business currently enrolls approximately 5,000 undergraduates, 800 master’s students, 60 doctoral students, and boasts the first separately accredited School of Accounting in Texas. Currently, the School of Accounting enrolls nine doctoral students. The Carnegie Foundation classifies TTU as having Highest Research Activity (Tier 1). The TTU Red Raiders are charter members of the Big 12 Conference and compete in Division I athletics. The Lubbock metropolitan area is home to more than 300,000 residents and is nicknamed the “Hub City” due to it being the economic, educational, cultural, and health care hub for West Texas.
