Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.We are seeking highly qualified applicants who have expertise in school psychology with research emphases that can be supported in rural school environments. Applicants should demonstrate potential for collaboration with College of Education faculty from at least one other area, including STEM, bilingual education, leadership, or special education. Candidates from underrepresented groups in higher education faculty or those with experience working in culturally and linguistically diverse settings are strongly encouraged to apply. In addition, candidates who have strong records of scholarship and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are encouraged to apply. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities of the successful candidate:
  • Teach school psychology courses at the master and doctoral levels, such as advanced academic assessment & intervention in schools; advanced child & adolescent psychopathology; assessment, ethics, standards & best practices in school psychology; consultation in schools; or other topics of the applicant’s interest.
  • Supervise student research and practice in a manner that promotes their synthesis.
  • Establish and maintain a rigorous research agenda.
  • Seek extramural funding to support research and practice.
  • Actively participate in service for the program, department, college, and university committees.
  • Help the department build a strong program to be commensurate with the University’s mission as a Hispanic Serving Institution.
  • Collaborate and cooperate with colleagues to fulfill the needs of the department’s and college’s strategic goals.
  • Develop and foster partnerships with school districts, other colleges, and universities for engaged scholarship.
  • Promote a collaborative, socially just environment.
A completed doctorate in school psychology, educational psychology with a specialization in school psychology, or another field of psychology with specialized training in school psychology by August 2024.Licensure (or license eligible) as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) in the state of Texas. Demonstrated potential for or record of peer-reviewed publications and scholarship in school psychology. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and mentorship at the graduate level. Demonstrated commitment to serving diverse, high-need populations.
