What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper I position at Texas Tech University?
Major/Essential Functions
Serve as equipment operator to perform mowing, edging, pruning, fertilization, debris removal, landscaping enhancement duties, and construction tasks. This position will also service and repair grounds irrigation systems and all grounds keeping equipment used in performing their duties.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED. No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of tools, equipment operation, materials, and methods to properly conduct grounds maintenance. Thorough knowledge of irrigation systems, controllers, sprinklers, and plumbing components. Ability to understand and follow instructions, directions and simple plans, sketches and drawings. Thorough knowledge on proper horticultural practices in maintaining facilities grounds. Three years of experience in commercial grounds maintenance. Thorough knowledge on care of turfs, trees, ornamentals, and ground covers. Thorough knowledge of operation and maintenance of lawn equipment, such as tractors, edgers, tillers, etc.
Pay Statement
