What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Lead position at TFC Recycling?
JOB SUMMARY
The Production Lead assists the shift production supervisor in the day to day operation of the plant sorting facility.
There are two production lead positions for each shift; one for the fiber side of the sorting facility employing 17 sorting personnel and a second position for the container side employing 11 sorting personnel.

HOURS OF WORK
Monday – Friday and Saturdays as required
- 1st shift begins at 6:00 am and runs between 8-12 hours as business needs mandate.
- 2nd shift begins immediately after 1st shift and runs between 8-12 hours as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE
- A good understanding of how a production environment functions including keeping operations continuously running and meeting production goals.
- A good understanding of the safe operation, maintenance and troubleshooting required with industrial equipment
- OSHA and additional internal safety requirements including but not limited to lockout tag procedures.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to effectively manage a crew of production employees including strong leadership abilities.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand when, how and why adjustments to the production line equipment is required
- Understand product quality expectations
- Physically be able to effectively work in an industrial environment under adverse conditions.
- Exemplary personal attendance and punctuality in a leadership role.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years proven experience in the supervision of a production facility in an industrial environment.
Experience in waste industry a plus.
EDUCATION
High school education or equivalent
JOB DUTIES
- Assist shift supervisor in production requirements
- Start and stop equipment as required
- Make minor adjustments to equipment as necessary
- Adjust line speeds as required for material being processed.
- Assist subordinates in clearing jams which prevent production line from running.
- Ensure plant cleanliness including clean up operations at the end of each shift.
- Communicate with opposite shift supervisory personnel concerning production related issues such as downtime, mechanical issues or other pertinent information.
- Ensure accurate shift headcount is taken and reported to shift supervisor along with any employee absences.
- Keep accurate accountability of personnel during the shift.
- Check on quality of end product to determine if machinery adjustments are needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps and poles.
- Must be able to Communicate verbally and written.
