The Family Partnership was founded in 1878 as the Minneapolis Humane Society to protect and serve children that were being abused or exploited. SCHEDULE
This is a hybrid position. Onsite work is necessary for building relationships, meeting with funders, and learning about programming. This position works during normal business hours. It may, but seldom, requires evening and/or weekend hours.
A Typical Day in the Life…
A typical day as The Family Partnership’s Grants Manager provides an opportunity to coordinate all aspects of the agency’s philanthropic grants processes with the goal of increasing funding, and will include the following:
Funding Proposals
- Writing and editing funding proposals.
- Coordinating the preparation of reports and proposals.
- Coordinating with grant partners and supporters in preparing proposals and reports.
- Identifying and researching new sources of funding.
- Notifying appropriate staff of funding opportunities and keeping them informed of key points.
- Assisting with county, government, and federal grants, including researching, writing proposals, and reporting.
- Recording and maintaining records to track grants, proposals, and report deadlines.
Relationship Development and Preservation
- Maintaining relationships with funders, in collaboration with executive team members, through site visits, correspondence, and phone calls.
- Creating strategies for developing relationships with new funders.
- Attending appropriate meetings to seek advice regarding grants and reporting out on the status of grants.
- Developing positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Building relationships with other community-based organizations for potential collaborative grant opportunities.
Accounting
- Ensuring all grants are appropriately coded both in terms of cost centers and in terms of any restrictions as to purpose or time.
- Working closely with program managers, directors, and vice presidents to ensure that funds are being spent correctly.
Who You Are
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or you have demonstrably equivalent knowledge acquired through alternative courses of study and life experience.
- You have 2 years of grant writing and research experience, showcasing proven success in this realm.
- Your written and oral communication skills are highly effective.
- You excel in project management, planning, and time management, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
- You exhibit a deep understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as implicit bias and structural racism affecting historically marginalized communities.
- You possess knowledge of fundraising opportunities and strategies.
- Your strategic thinking abilities enable you to maximize funding opportunities.
- You demonstrate strong research skills, allowing for thorough investigation and analysis.
- Your customer service skills are exceptional, fostering positive interactions with stakeholders.
- You have the ability to create and maintain professional relationships.
- Your proficiency in word processing is advanced, and you have experience with spreadsheets and database management.
- You can manage simultaneous projects, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive with minimal supervision.
- You prioritize client confidentiality and uphold it diligently.
- You have a valid driver’s license, have access to reliable transportation, and meet TFP’s driving record requirements. Note: If your license was not issued in Minnesota, you commit to obtaining a Minnesota driver's license or permit within 60 days of becoming a Minnesota resident.
