General Summary

Reporting to the HSE Manager of Broken Arrow, the HSE Representative is responsible for advising, assisting, leading and coaching management, employees and customer representatives with direction and implementation of the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental programs and policies. The Safety Representative develops, implements, and sustains HSE Policies, Procedures & Programs to drive incidents and injuries to "zero". With a foundation of integrity, the candidate would use commitment and creativity to drive our organization forward ensuring compliance with the company's policies & procedures and with local, state and federal regulations.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily visits to shop facilities to assess and maintain compliance and provide HSE coaching and support to the respective teams.
  • Work directly with management, staff and operations and maintenance employees to provide coaching, mentoring and resolution of safety related issues and concerns.
  • Develops and facilitates training, safety meeting topics and safety notices for employees and contractors on issues related to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Engages workforce to think proactive safety to mitigate potential hazards
  • Assist in the design and development of health, safety, security and environmental training programs.
  • Monitors safety performance by completing audits, hazard identification and injury prevention.
  • Conducts industrial hygiene monitoring as necessary to support Operations Activities.
  • Participates in Pre-job Planning and Safety Reviews for high-risk work activities and recommend safe work practices and PPE requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison with Operations and Maintenance personnel to ensure safety issues and concerns are addressed and mitigated.
  • Facilitates the Onboarding and HSE Orientation of New Employees
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, RRC and DOT standards.
  • Perform or assist with incident investigations – root cause analysis as needed and take necessary corrective actions to prevent future incidents & drive improvement.
  • Establish and monitor a program for reporting and investing “near-miss” situations
  • Conduct investigations into employee inquiries, suggestions and complaints
  • Ensure required safety paperwork is being completed and filed correctly
  • Perform a variety of routine and complex administrative, technical, and professional work in analyzing and administering various components of the health, safety and environmental program.
  • Assist in the review, design, communication, coordination, implementation and monitoring of health, safety, security and environmental policies and programs.
  • Assist wit periodic HSE audits in all facilities and work locations.
  • Assist with, or coordinate, work area assessments, surveys, and program evaluations to determine the presence of hazardous conditions, such as noise exposure, chemical exposure, air quality, confined space, LOTO and ventilation.

Job Specifications

  • 3 to 5 years’ H&S experience in manufacturing.
  • 1 to 5 years’ construction experience desired.
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Associates degree in safety or environmental engineering, safety management, occupational environment, health, industrial health or related fields. If no applicable degree has been achieved, then years of industry experience may be substituted.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and safe driving record with ability to drive to company and customer locations in the regional area.
  • Flexibility with working hours, which may include hours outside of normal scheduled work hours.
  • Strong planner/organizer; takes initiative; adapts quickly to change; high level of work standard.
  • Excellent judgment, ability to solve problems, develop/implement solutions, strives to understand contributing factors, works to resolve complex situations, and helps individuals to resolve conflicts.
  • Acts with integrity, open/honest communication, respecting others, working together with team, strong commitment to HSE and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communications abilities to engage employees and contractors at all levels in assessing and understanding the principles of safe behaviors, conditions and preparedness.
  • Positive attitude with the desire to continue learning.
  • High level of organization and attention to details.
  • Applicants must be able to thrive in fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication to collaborate with various levels of employees and management.
  • Must be competent in Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Have excellent customer relations skills.
  • Work individually, as well as in a team environment with minimum supervision
  • Ability to use discretion with confidential information and work with enthusiasm and a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
  • Use excellent customer service skills, establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other employees, contractors, customer representatives, officials, outside organizations, and representatives of local, state, and federal agencies.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

  • Broken Arrow, OK 74014: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education:

  • Associate (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Health & Safety manufacturing: 5 years (Preferred)
  • HSE construction: 5 years (Preferred)
  • HSE audits: 5 years (Preferred)

  • Spanish (Required)
