Machinist Trainee

Primary Job Function:

Service and support manufacturing goals and objectives. Learn the position of Machinist and support the department. Accomplish any and all work assignments as directed by management.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Complete a wide range of machining requirements utilizing the following machines: Large Vertical CNC Mill, Small CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Bridgeport, Surface Grinder, Drill Press, Radial Drill and Lapping Machine.
• Instill good communication between shifts and departments for all activities.
• Maintain equipment and a clean work environment.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma.
• Previous form of Machining experience preferred.
• You will be required to complete (within 36 months) education classes in accordance to the Training Education Plan for the Machinist Trainee Program.
• Required Courses are reimbursed at 100% for tuition and related fees.
• Complete required benchmark (LCC) College courses or test out.
• Drafting/ Intro to CAD (DCTM 101)
• Technical Math (Math 114)
• Effective use of Machine Handbook (METM 120)
• Intro to Precision Machining (METM 110)
• Basic Mechanical Drafting (MTED 100)
• Advanced Precision Machining (METM 150)

• Basic computer knowledge.

Health, Safety and Physical Demand Requirements:

• Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Able to tolerate standing for 8 hours or more.
• Occasional lifting, climbing, carrying, pulling, griping, grasping, twisting, bending, stooping and reaching throughout the work day.
• Hand and eye coordination.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

• 10 hour shift
