The Professional Land Surveyor will perform a variety of tasks associated with land surveying on a NCDOT project located in Northeast NC. The PLS will be responsible for the utilization of project controls, staking using a total station, GPS, and computer software in project assignments. In addition, this position will be responsible for all aspects of project control including, but not limited to, field data collection, topographical surveys and construction stakeout. Compensation is based upon qualifications and experience. DOT survey expereince is a PLUS.

Location: Raleigh, NC Area
Salary: Based Upon Qualifications and Experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and run survey crew operations
- Perform ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, Plat of Highways, RouteSurveys, Topographic Surveys, Construction Staking and Transportation projects with DOTs
- Maintain and adhere to QA/QC procedures/note taking and maintaining office and field pro ject material.
- Follow instructions and work orders from project managers
- Develop and manage all required survey and stakeout submittals for NCDOT review and approval as required in the NCDOT Construction Stakeout Manual
- Organize field notes and execute field staking
- Perform record search at Recorder's offices and government entities.
- Prepare legal descriptions. Sign and seal all survey plans prepared and calculated
- Proficient with DOT standards and code lists and all survey requirements
- Other Duties as assigned
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience of land surveying in charge of field crews for all aspects of surveying and types of surveys
- Professional Land Surveyor License in NC/Virginia Required
- Experience with AutoCAD / Carlson Required
- Trimble & Topcon, Total Station Robotic Survey Equipment, and GPS machine control support
- Ability to read and comprehend construction plans
- Heavy civil construction experience
- Ability to build TIN / BIM maps Preferred
- Knowledge of geological description principles and methods
- Knowledge of applicable laws, legal codes and government regulations
- Strong oral and written communication skill
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be detail oriented, organized, focused, self-motivated, possess good work ethic and be a team player
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to work outdoors on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
