WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Communications & Marketing Manager


JOB PURPOSE

A21 is a global anti-human trafficking NGO with the mission to abolish slavery everywhere, forever. This role will report to the Director of Marketing & Communications and will be responsible for the strategy, execution, and optimization of owed and paid communication channels for A21.

As the Communication & Marketing Manager, you’ll manage, optimize, and grow our existing communication channels, while identifying, scaling, and owning new avenues for audience acquisition and deepening our existing audience's connection to the work and mission of A21. You’ll work closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications to develop, coach, and provide direction and opportunities for growth to the broader Marketing & Communications team.

We work in a fast-paced environment that occasionally requires irregular work hours and quick turnarounds, so flexibility is critical for success in this position. The ideal candidate we are looking for would be innovative, goal-oriented, and passionate about the work and mission of A21.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY DUTIES


CONTENT STRATEGY & EXECUTION:

  • Lead digital execution—across email, website, and social media strategy for fundraising and engagement campaigns throughout the year.
  • Work with the team to develop and produce high-quality content that’s in line with A21’s brand, voice, and broader communication strategy to engage and educate audiences across various channels, including newsletters, blogs, graphics, website, social media.
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications Department to implement, execute, and maximize campaigns, core assets, and projects to drive results on time and within budget.
  • Own SEO and content strategy alongside the Digital Developer to drive new qualified traffic to our website.
  • Manage all mass communication and relational marketing journeys through our email communication strategy and execution.
  • Work with digital teams to identify features, optimizations, and strategies that will drive user growth and engagement–ultimately increasing conversion.


ACQUISITION STRATEGY:

  • Work with the Director of Marketing & Communications to shape our paid and organic marketing and acquisition strategy to grow our audience and monthly giving community.
  • Work with the Director of Marketing & Communications to develop engaging creative assets and campaigns to drive new acquisition.
  • Work with the Director of Marketing & Communications to develop engaging user journeys that bring donors through the acquisition funnel.


EVALUATION & REPORTING

  • Monitor and report on results, learnings, and experiments on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Develop and maintain a performance marketing metrics dashboard, and sharing insights with the Director of Marketing & Communications on a regular basis.
  • Work with the Director of Marketing & Communications to identify actionable insights that will inform our future communication strategies, messages and donor engagements.
  • This role is hands-on, analytical, and results-driven. You’ll work alongside the Director of Marketing & Communications to hit growth goals, and key performance indicators for the Marketing & Communications department.


PERSONNEL DEVELOPMENT

  • Work closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications to develop, coach, and Communications team.
  • Provide direction and opportunities for growth to the broader Marketing 
  • Oversee the payment of invoices, contracts, weekly meetings, and evaluations as needed for contract or salary-based staff.
  • Support the Director of Marketing & Communications in leading, coaching, and organization goals, and develops/supports both the individual and collective team.
  • Develop staff–ensuring that personnel are managed in a way that advances
  • Continue to create and optimize avenues for increased communication, coordination, and collaboration within the department.


PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS - Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills


ESSENTIAL:

  • 3 years of experience in Marketing & Communications with history in performance marketing, including hands-on experience with paid media (Facebook and Google Ads).
  • A deep understanding of and interest in the digital media space (owned, earned, and paid) including keeping up with new developments in ad tech.
  • Experience working with Google Analytics, SalesForce, SQL, Google Tag Manager,
  • Google Optimize or Optimizely.
  • Self-starter with a problem-solving outlook and “can-do” attitude.
  • Ability to communicate and effectively work in a cross-team environment.
  • Comfort managing workflow in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strategic thinker, can collect and analyze data, ability to focus on both short-term and long-term goals.
  • Possesses strong leadership, creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

DESIRABLE: 

  • Degree level qualification in a related field.
  • Suitable knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrated history working with volunteers or managing teams.
