The Ground Systems Antenna Engineer in the Antenna Systems Department within the Communications Technologies and Engineering Division will support the definition and development of advanced ground system reflector and phased array antennas. The Ground Systems Antenna Engineer will work directly with corporate customers to ensure robust and resilient systems. ASD uses 3D electromagnetic simulation software like HFSS, CST Microwave Studio and GRASP to design and analyze antennas and other components. ASD has multiple antenna test capabilities to help solve our customers’ most challenging antenna aperture problems for space vehicles, ground systems and user equipment. Our group has supported the Aerospace CubeSat program since the beginning and we work hand in hand with iLab and xLab on exciting CubeSat missions. Come join us to help define the next antenna architectures for space What You’ll Be Doing Provide subject matter expertise in for ground station reflector antennas, wide-band arrays, and multibeam arrays. Work with and lead multi-disciplinary teams to develop concepts for next-generation ground station. Evaluate technical challenges and propose simulation, test and measurement, or analysis activities to provide risk mitigation and innovative solutions. Explain complex technical issues to a variety of audiences, including experts and non-experts Mentor junior team members in antenna test and design. **This position can be filled as an Aerospace Engineering Specialist or Senior Engineering Specialist based on experience ** What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, related engineering or physics discipline At least 5 years of antennas or RF communication systems experience Technical experience in the following antenna and communication systems areas: Ground station systems Antenna theory, feed design, phased array and reflector design RF and antenna measurement plans Demonstrated team leadership, customer responsiveness, creativity in problem solving and addressing teaming/interpersonal challenges, ability to rapidly grasp new concepts, and excellent written/verbal communication skills Willing to travel domestically approx. 10 – 25% This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. Minimum Requirements for consideration as a Sr Engineering Specialist: (in addition) At least 8 or more years of antennas or RF communication systems experience. Demonstrated product or project leadership of interdisciplinary teams Experience leading trade studies of ground communication systems How You Can Stand Out It would be impressive if you have one or more of these: Advanced degree in electrical engineering, related engineering or physics discipline 12 or more years of antennas or RF communication systems experience. Current TS/SCI security clearance Proficiency using MATLAB or Python for data analysis Previous line or team management experience and Aerospace Corp program office experience Proficiency using 3D, full-wave electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, TICRA Tools, GRASP Technical experience in the following space communication systems areas: small satellite comm, system requirement definition, research and development, phased arrays, nulling and beamforming, reflector design, Far-field and near-field antenna measurements Ways We Reward Our Employees During your interview process, our team will provide details of our industry-leading benefits.
