Currently, The Agnes Irwin School is seeking a full-time experienced School Nurse. Position Purpose: Main responsibilities include:
- To promote, protect and maintain optimal levels of wellness of all students across PK-12 so they fully benefit from their educational experience.
- To assist students in acquiring health knowledge, developing behaviors and attitudes conducive to healthful living
- To work with Head Nurse to implement all state mandates and systematically obtain, update and document health-related data

Essential Job Functions (under the direction of and in collaboration with the Head Nurse and supporting both health offices across PK-12):
- Provides nursing support across the Lower, Middle and Upper School including support of diabetes
- Safely administer medications and treatments
- Assumes authority for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered an injury, requires routine health maintenance or emergency care until appropriate personnel assume responsibility.
- Assist in implementation of vision, hearing, scoliosis, height and weight screenings as directed by PA state mandates.
- Observe students on a regular basis to detect physical and mental health needs, and report observations to appropriate staff.
- Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records.
- Report to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics and other agencies on student health matters as needed.
- Administer first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures.
- Implement policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
- Participate in continuing education activities.
- Assist school personnel in maintaining sanitary/safe standards in school.
- In collaboration with athletic trainer, collect, copy, distribute and record physical examination and emergency notification forms and update these as needed.
- In collaboration with athletic trainer, coordinate AIS’s concussion protocol.
- Support certification of students and staff as needed in American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and demonstrates respect for different values and viewpoints

Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Nurse in Pennsylvania
- Adherence to Standards of Practice of Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act
- Prior Pediatric and/or Adolescent Care Experience
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
- Understanding of an adherence to principles of confidentiality
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Tasks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and that may involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy (20-50 pounds) objects and materials. May be required to lift or move an injured or sick person.
- Work in a traditional climate controlled office environment.
- Move throughout the day, as needed, between two health offices across campus from each other.
