DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of the Department Adjutant, the Program Coordinator will assist in building and maintaining a positive image of The American Legion, Department of Wisconsin by promoting the organization's objectives, ideas and mission. The Program Coordinator will also serve as the coordinator for American Legion Baseball and Softball program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand and coordinate a variety of American Legion programs
- Main program responsibility will be Wisconsin American Legion Baseball/Softball Programs
- Background checks, program registration, insurance, etc.
- Maintain records of program event expense, including financial details and assist in monitoring expenses versus the budget
- Organize registration of assigned event participants using various types of event registration platforms and performs required background checks as directed
- Maintains manuals, directories, policies and procedures, resolutions, pertaining to assigned programs
Legislative Committee
- Work closely with the Department Adjutant and Committee Chair
- Assist them in dispensing information to the House, Legislators, Legislative staff, State agencies and the public
- Coordinate information and documents needed for legislative related hearings and/or committee meetings
- Keep track of bills impacting veterans or veteran issues with electronic Public Legislature Tracking program
- Assist in maintaining contact list for those interesting in specific legislation
- Coordinate information and documents needed for legislative related hearings and/or committee meetings
Social Media/Website/Print
- Promote and communicate the Wisconsin American Legion's mission in accordance with the Department Branding Guide
- Assist in maintaining the Department website
- Post to the WI American Legion social media platforms
- Draft press releases and provide background on media inquiries
- Prepare/compose letters, answer correspondence and respond to surveys/ reports as directed by the Department Adjutant

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must meet one of the following:
1. Post-secondary education is preferred
2. High school diploma or its equivalent, and a minimum of four years of program coordination
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to work under strict deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exceptional organization and time management skills
- Capable of working with internal and external teams and partners
- Must be team-oriented, display a positive attitude, and be willing to assist in all aspects of office and program activity
- Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills; clearly communicate information, listen well and ask relevant questions
Organizational Support
- Follows policies and procedures
- Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time
- Supports the mission of The American Legion, Department of Wisconsin
Computer Skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canva, Avery, Google programs, social media and website maintenance, etc.
- Operate office fax machine, photocopier, scanner, telephone, etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
