The Arc of Cape May County has an Information Technology Specialist position available. This position is responsible for installing and configuring hardware and supporting the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), virtual private network (VPN), and internet systems. This responsibility includes monitoring the network to ensure network availability to all system users and performing necessary maintenance to support network availability, as well as administering network security measures and the provision of staff training and support as needed.
Information Security
- Preserve the integrity of agency technology and associated data while protecting the system from external threats;
- Add users to a network and assign and routinely review and update security permissions on the network;
- Configure, monitor, and maintain virus protection software;
- Proactively safeguard all networks through comprehensive planning, coordination and implementation of network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
Infrastructure Management
- Maintain and deliver a reliable and stable technology platform allowing staff to perform work in an efficient manner;
- Exhibit flexibility by being available for on-call during non-work hours as scheduled, in the event a computer system malfunctions or needs to be re-started;
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all hardware and software;
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, complete upgrades, and replace defective components when necessary to minimize service disruptions;
- Proactively monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future;
- Analyze the hardware and software needs of the agency to align with the overall strategic technology plan and in accordance with the mission and values of the agency;
- Plan, implement and manage results of the agency's strategic technology plan;
- Maintain databases, internet, email service, video & tel-conferencing, wireless, cellular and video surveillance systems;
- Keep informed of latest technology and determine if the agency would benefit from implementation;
- Make recommendations for system updates as needed;
- Configure and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software;
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations;
- Configure, monitor, and maintain email accounts;
- Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
Technical Support & Training
- Contribute to the productivity of staff by ensuring they are well trained on technology and provided with timely and efficient resolution to any technical issues;
- Solve problems when a user or an automated monitoring system informs that a problem exists and proactively identify trends while seeking opportunities for improvement;
- Train users on the proper use of hardware and software by providing easy-to-understand guidance in a supportive manner.
Education/Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field;
Five years of experience in information technology.
