What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prepress Lead position at The Bernard Group?

- an Associate’s degree, certificate or diploma in the graphic arts and imaging technology or printing and prepress technology or equivalent work experience
- prior prepress experience for print production, preferred
- proficient knowledge in the use of Adobe products used for premedia setup
On top of that you must:
- pay close attention to details to complete projects accurately within deadlines, while meeting Company quality standards
- have basic computer skills, including ePace, Outlook, Excel, World Ship, and other applications
- be self-motivated, a fast learner, and show initiative to seek out customer and corporate needs
- have the ability to supervise employees, set objectives and work goals and standards, give direction, delegate to, and motivate employees
- apply effective time management and self-management skills
- understand and maintain the confidential nature of company, employee and customer information
In this position, you will:
- manage the workflow of jobs in process for the prepress team.
- communicate with production managers on press needs.
- troubleshoot any file issues such as; dieline errors, missing ripped files, reworks at night, color issues, GMG issues.
- elevate issues to appropriate channels when outside of personal scope of abilities.
- rollout and communicate any new training on rips, software, SOPs or any other new pertinent information.
- respond to production and management emails in a timely manner.
- flex into preflight when necessary to help preflight new art.
- preflight and output files for multiple digital press platforms.
- support the press and bindery to resolve file related issues.
- create soft and hard copy proofs for internal and external proofing
- troubleshooting print files.
- prepare files to meet print specifications including: bleeds, size, color, overprints, transparencies, bindery and finishing requirements, etc.
- have the ability to troubleshoot file issues in a timely manner.
- ensure that proper format, appearance, and layout are set before the print run is approved.
- apply marks and FPO lines for cutting, perforation, scoring etc.
- manual imposition.
- be responsible for Color management using Oris tools and color image correction as well.
- perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by management.
