Certified Public Accountant (CPA)/Accountant

Inland Empire-Based Law Firm seeks Accountant or CPA to Join its Tax Defense Team

Rancho Cucamonga-based law firm with a robust tax practice is seeking an accountant or CPA to join its accounting team. This position is detail-oriented and critical to the success of our tax practice.

Typical duties include:

• Review and preparation of client tax returns.
• Assess and research tax burdens and potential solutions to diminish tax burden.
• Manage and update client’s individual and business tax records.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and rules relating to tax withholding and reporting.
• Prepare accurate quarterly and annual tax reports.
• Directly liaise with clients to determine facts necessary for analysis and strategizing.
• Litigation support – preparation of reports, interviewing experts, providing fiscal analysis to cases undertaken by the firm.
• Communicate directly with the IRS, the California FTB, CDTFA, and other tax agencies.
• Provide excellent customer service to our clients.

The ideal candidate will be either an accountant or a CPA, and possess:

• A bachelor’s degree (minimum) in accounting or relevant field.
• 3 years’ or more experience in tax accounting or similar role.
• Previous experience with a law firm focusing on tax audit defense, tax litigation, legal research, and litigation.
• Previous experience preparing offers-in-compromise for submission to the IRS.
• Familiarity with the practices of the IRS, the California Franchise Tax Board, the California Department of Tax & Fee Administration, and local taxing authorities in Southern California.
• An advanced understanding of Microsoft Office software, and various accounting and tax preparation software.
• An In-depth knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping practices.
• The ability to research information and prepare summaries of research.
• The ability to assist legal counsel with preparation for trial in the US Tax Court and other courts of record.
• The ability to assist legal counsel with tax planning services for individual and business clients.

This position is open to either Full- or Part-Time applicants.
