Position Overview
We are seeking an energetic, book lover who wants to manage a truly ‘old-fashioned’ independent bookstore that has thrived in downtown Fernandina for over 30 years. The Bookseller will provide exceptional customer service to all customers in a friendly and helpful manner. They should be knowledgeable about books and willing to share enthusiasm with our customers to maximize sales and customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet customer, help locate books, answer questions and assist with the purchase of merchandise
- Shelve, arrange, clean and organize product within the store to maintain an appealing sales floor
- Receive and unload merchandise, verify orders and display merchandise
- Assist with book orders, daily merchandising, social media, author signings, promotions and other necessary store activities
- Work during peak periods including weekends, holidays and community events including Amelia Island Book Festival
Requirements
- Avid book reader
- At least 2 years of retail store experience; bookstore retail experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
- Trust, honesty, integrity and a true passion for customer satisfaction
- Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with book categories and book reviews
- Working knowledge of e-mail marketing software, website design and digital media platforms
- Experience with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $11.00 - $15.00 per hour
