Position Description
We are seeking a creative, collaborative, and innovative Acting teacher to teach one section of Beginning Acting in Branson's Visual and Performing Arts Department.
The Arts department at Branson is a well-established and vital component of the Branson student experience. We seek to meet all students wherever they might be in their artistic study, to inspire them toward a deeper sense of their authentic artistic voice, and to broaden their perception of the creative process. The arts at Branson are especially unique in the ways they are interwoven into the educational fabric via interdisciplinary projects, celebrated through community festivals & concerts, and engaged in meaningful work outside the studios in robust visiting artist programming and in partnership with local organizations. Branson student-artist-athletes truly do it all. Branson uses a salary scale that is based on education and years of experience. Annual salary ranges from $75,255.00-$150,091, prorated to the positions FTE.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead teacher of Beginning Acting
- Dedicated and responsive student-centered teaching, including: developing and assessing clear learning objectives via our “Objectives Based Grading” system ; availability for individual support of students; organization of student performance.
- Collaboration with Acting teacher and Technical Theater director in aligning and refining course objectives, teaching practices and goals.
- Collaboration with Department Chair and department members as necessary for responsive projects, technology programs, visiting artists opportunities and field trips.
- Willingness to work outside the school day as necessary for specific project and performance needs
- Attend Staffulty and Department meetings as necessary to remain informed and integrated in the adult community.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Fine Arts is preferred
- Expertise in Acting as an artform including fundamentals of improvisation.
- Understanding of art history and contemporary critical/inclusive discourse around acting practices
- Demonstrated understanding and curiosity in creating daily course activities and curriculum.
- Clear communicator to all constituencies: students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and familiarity with Google Suite of applications.
- Ability to demonstrate our four core values and support our mission statements through collaboration, professionalism, and critical reflection
- Ability to pass state and federal background check, fingerprinting, and provide a recent negative TB test or screening.
