Position Brief:
The Carousel of Happiness is seeking an Assistant Executive Director to join our team and provide a variety of administrative duties in order to help our team achieve fundraising goals and grow community programs on-time and within budget. Our ideal candidate will be outgoing, independently motivated and extremely organized. As a nonprofit, our mission is to inspire happiness, well-being, and service to others through stories and experiences. Our ideal candidate is excited about assisting the organization in executing that mission, with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills that reflect the magical experience of the Carousel to our donors and customers.
Responsibilities Include Assisting the Executive Director with the following:
- Planning and executing fundraising events
- Improving and creating community programming that aligns with our mission
- Managing donor relations, expanding the network of donors, and seeking out relevant grants and foundation funding
- Advertising and marketing - such as newsletters, social media, donor communications, PR
- Outreach to group visitors, past and potential, such as schools and community groups.
- Other tasks assigned as needed, including but not limited to, filling in shifts for other employees, managing volunteers, filing records, and recording data.
- Possibility to work partially remote after initial in-person training period
Relevant Experience & Skills:
- Proven work experience in event planning, community outreach, fundraising, and administrative processes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
- Organized and willing to oversee several projects at once
- Confident computer literacy in programs such as Google Workspace suite of products, Mailchimp, Canva, and experience with Wordpress and Elementor a plus
- Professional telephone and email etiquette
- Ability to write copy for marketing events and programs
Compensation & Benefits:
- 20 hours per week
- $23k to $27k annual salary
- 40 hours paid leave annually
- 30 hours paid sick leave annually
