The Major Gifts Officer at the CGO will elevate our major giving with foundations, corporations, and individuals. The position is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies designed to identify, cultivate, and effectively solicit major gifts from high-capacity donors. Candidates who have policy-research experience will be given priority.

This position is a new role at the CGO. Our rapid growth necessitates an experienced and engaged professional to develop and lead the strategy and execution of major gifts initiatives. We are constantly creating and innovating at the CGO, and this job would be no exception. This role offers someone the opportunity to grow and learn professionally and personally by creating and delivering on strategic development decisions.

Primary duties and skills needed:

  • This role will focus on:
  • Cultivating and soliciting a portfolio of planned and major gift prospects
  • Maintaining a high level of communication with existing major donors to ensure that keys partners are informed and connected to our work.
  • Identifying new prospects for the priorities each year.
  • Preparing proposals and reports for existing donors and prospective partners.
  • Coordinating with senior leadership to engage them appropriately with partners.
  • Organizing events, managing communications, and planning initiatives to identify partners and introduce them to our work
  • This role requires:
  • Hustle. We need a hard-working and results-oriented fundraiser with a proven track record of success.
  • Vision. Because this is a new role for the CGO, we need a fundraiser that feels comfortable in uncertain and uncharted territory.
  • Influence. We are looking for someone that can effectively share our vision, create excitement around our work, and create a shared enthusiasm within the organization for engaging new patterns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field such as non-profit management, public administration, corporate social responsibility, communications, business, finance, social work, or community development.
  • Five years of professional major gift fundraising experience or associated non-for-profit experience, one of which may have been in sales/marketing with increasing levels of responsibility and demonstrated success.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with the public in a wide variety of settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with all constituencies, including donors, senior leaders, employees, volunteers, board members, and community and business leaders.
  • Management and leadership skills with demonstrated detail orientation, timeliness, and ability to work under pressure while managing multiple projects at once.
  • Demonstrated advanced writing skills that produce clear, accurate, and detailed communications.
  • High level of confidence using Salesforce or similar donor database
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while balancing the need to provide key information and updates to leadership.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
