JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: National Safety Program Manager – Protein DivisionFLSA Status: ExemptLocation: OpenSchedule: Schedule is set based on business needs, Day time with flexibility to work some nights.Salary Structure: SalarySalary Range: CompetitiveDepartment: Corporate Operations – ProteinTravel: 50-70%Job Description:Develops a culture of safety throughout the organization, collaborating with Facility Operations leads, upper management, HR and other company-wide safety professionalsNew hire safety training, orientation and equipment machine certificationSupports & deploys company safety awareness agenda, champions safety education and leads safety enforcement, & enforces compliance with federal regulationsCreate & train on facility specific programs for the operations management team to deploy, including but not limited to:Lock out/Tag out (Including FSIS Cooperative Agreement)Powered equipment (fork lift, hand jack, etc.)MHEFirst AidPPEHazard CommunicationEmergency Action Plan (Maps, exits, meeting place)Etc.Stays abreast of all new and current safety regulations and updated processes, policies & practicesLeads (or “supports local team?”) the investigation process for all accidents and incidents, and recommends course of actionReviews incident data, evaluates occurrences to craft reports, support claim filing with insurance and determine the type, length and depth of safety training that is appropriate for each individual involved in any type of accident/sAssists with data gathering and submittals of all appropriate annual reports to the EPAEnsures timely and efficient processing of incident documentation and files, with claims and insuranceIn conjunction with upper management, builds accident preventing system reinforced by ongoing training to avoid recurrence of individual injuries, property damages & workers compensation claims for all team members.Collaborates with the Operations Team to administer corporate established safety performance based reward programs.Develop and implement a simple, targeted KPI’ scorecard for all protein facilities.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSFormal training or education in protein equipment, operations & transportation safety is desired but not requiredHands-on training/Site review5 years of Safety experience or a background in Safety ManagementKnowledgeable of Safety best practices, regulatory requirements, industry standards & DOT/OSHA regulationsExperience in developing and implementing safety and risk management programs which comply with all Federal, State and local lawsOral and written communication skills are necessary along with a strong set of Platform Skills as this role will lead discussions with tough audiences on sensitive issuesStrong computer proficiency using Microsoft Office products, i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.Experience in evaluating company risk factors, anticipate related costs and able to proactively recommend corrective measuresExcellent organizing skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
