Conceptual Estimator

We are seeking a Conceptual Estimator for construction projects in our Irving, Texas region. As a Conceptual Estimator, this position will assist in leading conceptual estimating efforts to produce accurate construction cost budgets and estimates. This role will provide input on process improvements and also supports project planning goals and initiatives.

1. Demonstrates conceptual estimating proficiency in the scope review process, subcontractor knowledge, information of On-Screen Takeoff and estimating software platforms, and in interiors estimating.
2. Develops skills in structural and civil estimating at concept and schematic design.
3. Developing knowledge of client relations and estimate presentations.
4. Greater depth of knowledge with regard to technical specifications.
5. Greater depth of knowledge with regard to pricing levels.
6. Meets deadline challenges and has the ability to prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously.
7. Work in conjunction with the bid team to prepare accurate bid proposals.
8. Provide technical assistance to Project Managers in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required. Assure clean handoff of estimate, bidding information, drawings, specifications, etc. to project management team.
9. Perform quantity take-offs.

Expected Hours of Work Full time position. Occasional extended hours and weekends may apply.

Travel Minimal travel required, depending on the project, travel to other areas may be required. Majority of travel done during work hours; overnight stays may be required.

Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Business, Finance or a related job field.
2. Three (3) years of work experience in construction or related job field. -or-
3. 3. Equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Basic understanding of accounting and project management concepts.
2. Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis, and estimation metrics.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

1. Well organized, excellent communication, and negotiation abilities.
2. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
3. Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices.
4. Must have conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the owner and/or architect requirements.
5. Complete knowledge of the estimating documents and the ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the documents.
6. Familiarity with construction project management software.
7. Strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
