The Release Train Engineer’s (RTE) primary purpose is to lead and coordinate an Agile Release Train (ART) in adopting Agile and continuous delivery practices in a large, complex environment. This includes facilitating ART ceremonies, coaching the ART on Agile best practices, tracking and mitigating risk, and leading continuous improvement efforts. The Evernorth Accountable Care program is seeking an experienced & influential Release Train Engineer to be part of a highly visible and strategic Solution Train focused on enabling the business by building and supporting new products and services which deliver on affordability and earnings objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
As a RTE Senior Manager your responsibilities are to:
Coordinate delivery across multiple agile teams aligned to a common delivery cadence.
Lead and manage scrum masters within the ART to enable career growth.
Lead the ART to ensure commitments made during planning are delivered.
Dependencies are actively managed within and across ART’s.
Manage and optimize the flow of value through the program using various tools and techniques.
Directly coaches and develops leaders, teams, and ART stakeholders on lean-agile practices and behaviors.
Utilize ART maturity metrics and assessments to develop and lead an ART maturation plan.
Participate in PI planning readiness - preparation of vision and backlogs via pre & post plan.
Ensure PI Planning readiness for the ART.
Facilitate PI Planning (for their ART) in conjunction with the Solution Train
Aggregate team PI objectives into Program PI objectives and creates transparency into progress.
Escalate impediments and risks that may contribute to delays or missed delivery of commitments.
Report on progress against milestones and supports activities related to Program Portfolio Management and Release Management
Drive continuous improvement for the ART via coaching and facilitation of Inspect and Adapt ceremonies.
Partner with and support stakeholders and teams in delivering valuable system and solution demos for stakeholders.
Create alignment across ART leaders and stakeholders on priorities and direction for the ART.
Preferred Skills and Experience
4-6 years’ experience managing software delivery strong IT application development & leadership background.
Preferred: 3-5 years’ experience as RTE, Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Program Manager
Proven track record of delivering on large scale or multiple initiatives.
Experience with all aspects of the delivery, including planning, features/user stories, design, and delivery execution.
Proven ability to coach and develop team members and stakeholders on Agile practices and behaviors.
Servant leader and strong communicator with strong interpersonal skill
Experience applying Lean Thinking and Systems Thinking in large organizations.
Experience with Lean Portfolio Management procedures and ceremonies up to the Portfolio level
Strong technical aptitude and experience leading teams in delivering quality software.
Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, XP, Kanban
Experience with using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) in a large solution preferred.
