JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist and Office Assistant. Duties include the following:
- Processes vendor invoices and check requests by verifying receipt of products/services and obtains proper documentation for timely payments.
- Manages queues to ensure payment requests are paid timely and accurately including taking advantage of discounts offered by vendors.
- Works with our team of 10 remote independent contractors and paid volunteers, such as accountant, scholarship coordinator, grants coordinator, event planner, and vendors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Prepares monthly accruals for general accounting. Responsible for clerical duties including but not limited to filing, maintaining orderly accounts payable documentation, processing grant and scholarship checks, making bank deposits, preparing documents to meet state compliance requirements, and helping to pull together documents to assist with year-end audit.
- Duties also include assisting our events team with planning seminars, conferences, and special events. For example, handling seminar registrations, ordering food for events and board meetings, contact hotels to secure best pricing for meeting rooms, etc.
Work Location: This is a part-time accounts payable position that requires working onsite 10-hours per week; preferably on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1-year accounts payable experience required.
- Excellent computer skills required with intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency. Understanding of an integrated accounts payable software. Billpay.com software experience a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in a small office is a plus.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required.
- Self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work independently in a multi-tasking environment. Strong organizational skills. Detail oriented. Team player.

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
