A hostess's job description includes a variety of tasks, such as:

Greeting guests with a warm greeting when they arrive and thank them when they leave.
Answering phone calls.
Providing wait times and managing seating chart.
Seating guests based on availability and balance the number of tables in each server's section.
Providing menus.
Catering to special guests who require extra attention, such as children or elderly.
Assisting wait staff: A hostess may assist wait staff as needed.
Good organizational and people skills, and be able to multitask.
