What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fund Accountant position at The Equus Group?
Job Summary:
The Equus Group is seeking a Fund Accountant for one of our private equity firms. This person will be responsible for managing financial data and preparing financial statements for investment funds. This includes recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and preparing reports that meet legal and regulatory requirements. The Fund Accountant will also work closely with other departments, such as compliance and operations, to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Record and reconcile transactions related to investment funds, such as purchases, sales, and distributions
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of investor capital calls and distributions
- Monitor and report on fund performance, including net asset value (NAV) calculations and performance metrics
- Coordinate with other departments, such as compliance and operations, to ensure accurate reporting and adherence to policies and procedures
- Assist with audits and other regulatory filings as necessary
- Provide support to senior management on financial analysis and special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- At least 2-3 years of experience in public accounting
- CPA required
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of investment products, including private equity and hedge funds, is preferred
