Position Summary:
The Program Officer, Technology, Research and Analytics (PO, TRA) will support the team’s efforts to plan and implement research and development efforts to accelerate eradication of all forms of poliovirus and provide analytic support to inform strategic decision making for key policy issues relevant to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).

Reporting to the Deputy Director, you will be part of a team that stands on three pillars: positivity, humility, and intellectual curiosity. Our focus is on the impact we are making globally and to continue to grow by supporting our partners on the ground and achieving the goals set in front of us.
What you will do!
- Provide managerial and technical oversight for a grant portfolio aimed at development of polio vaccines, including the novel oral polio vaccines and newer formulations of inactivated polio vaccines to inform polio endgame vaccine choices.
- Provide strategic and analytic insights to decision making for down selection of vaccine candidates / types for advanced development based on meticulous assessment of epidemiologic, manufacturing, and clinical data over time.
- Represent the polio team in relevant GPEI working group(s) and lead the process of streamlining data collection, analysis, and monitoring for continued and expanded use of the novel vaccines and other tools for polio eradication.
- Provide scientific inputs and programmatic insights to accelerate development and roll out of rapid, cost-effective, and scalable tools for polio diagnostics including detection methodologies and novel assays to support polio surveillance and to enhance scientific understanding of poliovirus transmission.
- In coordination with key partners, identify research priorities and innovative technologies that could enhance completeness of eradication. Work closely with the TRA team and other colleagues to formulate such research ideas and provide technical and managerial guidance to build grant relationships to for rapid implementation.
- Provide analytic, modeling and technical writing support to polio team members and GPEI working groups for priority issues such as risk assessment, outbreak response planning and evaluation of disease surveillance indicators, as and when necessary.

- Deep knowledge of infectious disease epidemiology and statistical/analytic methods.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with global policy makers and regional and national stakeholders to achieve desired results.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret, analyze, synthesize, and disseminate public health data for policy formulation in a clear and consistent way.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly to connect with audiences with varying technical, cultural, and geographic backgrounds.
- Ability to apply creative thinking in solving complex, real-world public health challenges.
- Proven track record of focusing on inclusion, collaboration, sense of humor and empathy as a team player.

Minimum Qualification
Minimum Qualification
- Advanced degree in public health and/or infectious disease epidemiology with 5 years of experience in public health / infectious disease control programs.
- Experience in application of principles of biostatistics for analysis, visualization, and dissemination of public health data.
- Experience in evaluation of disease surveillance systems using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Ability to travel up to 20% internationally.
Stand Out Qualifications:
- Training in applied epidemiology.
- Experience related to immunization and disease elimination / eradication.
