What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Coordinator position at The Gerken Companies?

Job Summary:

This position will primarily be responsible for all aspects of in-house processing of weekly payroll for approximately 300 employees in four companies and multiple unions.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll
  • Certified payroll reporting
  • Monthly union benefit reporting
  • Monthly EEO reporting
  • Weekly child support processing
  • Unemployment reporting

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • General computer knowledge (Microsoft Excel and Word)
  • Knowledge of automated timekeeping systems
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Self-motivated to meet regular weekly deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem-solving skills preferred
  • Ability to communicate professionally with others internally and externally
  • Excellent sense of urgency and time management

Education and Experience:

  • Associates’ Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years payroll experience
  • Experience with union contracts and multiple pay levels/pay rules preferred

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Normal office environment
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
