This role is a great fit for an ambitious, organized, mature professional who is excited and prepared to manage and oversee varying Penny teams and locations. This person represents our well-established brand as we expand beyond Santa Cruz County and into the Bay Area.
The Penny Ice Creamery Bay Area Manager ensures the smooth and efficient daily operations of our Bay Area locations. This person must be a hands-on, dynamic leader who is comfortable in taking full responsibility for the Bay Area shops. The Bay Area Manager is able to quickly adapt and change gears throughout the day; they are available on a consistent and reliable basis to meet all shop needs and staffing needs as they arise.
The Bay Area Manager works closely with Upper Management to achieve business objectives at the shop level by implementing strategy through a combination of skillful execution and effective leadership. A strong sense of ownership and personal autonomy are required to succeed in this role, as well as the ability to build and nurture vital relationships with team members, vendors, patrons and the surrounding community.
Requirements
Job Duties & Requirements
Staff Management
- Train, manage, coach, and discipline staff; upholding expectations of excellence
- Ensure smooth daily operations at all times
- Schedule staff and analyze labor cost on a weekly basis
- Communicate with staff regularly; perform weekly check-ins to ensure success
- Be the first point of contact for staff inquiries, questions, and concerns
- Monitor and manage staff breaks
- Conduct working interviews to assess potential candidates
- Anticipate future staffing needs; strategize with Upper Management
- Monitor staff adherence to business policies and take corrective actions as needed
- Build and maintain a strong, hands on managerial presence in both shops
Guest Service Management
- Demonstrate excellence, warmth and professionalism in all guest service interactions
- Serve as a brand ambassador for The Penny Ice Creamery; proudly represent the core values of the business
- Uphold The Penny Ice Creamery reputation and that of The Glass Jar, Inc.
- Resolve delicate guest service situations with poise and professionalism
Inventory Management
- Oversee product quality at both locations
- Conduct weekly paper goods inventory at both locations and place orders as needed
- Conduct bi-weekly kitchen and ice cream inventories for both locations
- Coordinate deliveries of product between locations using requisition protocol
- Monitor & order apron, towel, sanitizer and soap inventory as needed
- Monitor inventory for all products or items at your locations as needed
Shops Management
- Ensure health safety protocols are followed at both shop locations; ensure shop and staff preparedness for impromptu health inspector visits
- Oversee daily shop upkeep to maintain an impeccable presentation
- Maintain and troubleshoot essential equipment, communicating any major issues to Upper Management
- Manage change banks; Monitor deposits and cash reconciliation for accuracy
- Make cost-cutting and efficiency recommendations to Upper Management based on regular assessment
