A Cook/Chef at The Goddard School (A Childcare center) – Lake in the Hills is responsible for meal service at the school. The Chef must have a good attention to detail and good organization skills. This is a full position (minimum 6 hours/day from 7:00am-1:00pm) with hours dependent on the scope of responsibilities. A signing bonus of $1,000 will be given. In addition, we pay full pay during Xmas and New Year when school is closed for the Holidays.
Qualifications
A Chef should preferably have, or be willing to obtain, certification as a Food Service Manager as required by the Food Handling Regulation Enforcement Act. In addition, the food handler must have the ability to:

- prepare and serve food, in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations
- communicate effectively with school personnel, children and parents
The responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations relating to food handling
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen/pantry
- Ensuring the safe handling and preparation of all foods; breakfast, lunch and snacks
- Plan nutritious menus in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Plan substitution meals for children on vegetarian or medical diets
- Communicate with families supplementing the school menu with food from home (due to medical restrictions) to ensure the food meets nutritional requirement for their child and are packaged appropriately to be stored in our kitchen.
- Maintain appropriate portion sizes
- Managing the food budget
- Ordering food, beverages, and kitchen paper products within the budget
- Local shopping for food and/or supplies
- Washing non-disposable dishes and utensils using the 3-sink washing and sanitizing method
- Communicate with Health Department/regulatory agencies that oversee food service during inspections
- Attend faculty meetings
- Participate in school events
