What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Teacher position at The Goddard School?
The Goddard School of Stamford is looking for an energetic, warm and engaging Music Teacher for our Toddlers and Preschoolers.
A Music Teacher at The Goddard School® is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment. Additionally a Music Teacher is responsible to work together with classroom Teachers and in conjunction with the entire faculty.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Meeting the individual needs of the children by interacting with them to support play, exploration, music and movement.
- Introduce small groups of children, ages 12 months – 5 years, to the world of music using songs, simple instruments, and a variety of instructional materials, resources, and experiences.
- Communicating appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff.
- Creating a positive learning environment in their classroom where children develop a lifelong love of learning
- Presenting expectations that are appropriate to the child’s age and developmental level
- Establishing clear objectives for lessons.
- Developing music lesson plans and instructional materials for each age group.
- Preparing materials and classroom for class activities.
- Planning and implementing music and movement activities that develop self-esteem and social skills
- Building teamwork
- Committing to continuing education.
- Ensuring compliance with Goddard’s Quality Assurance Standards
- Assisting teachers with preparing and presenting student musical performances.
This is a Part Time Music Teacher position.
Qualifications:
All candidates, who wish to be considered for the position of Music Teacher must meet one or more of the following criteria, in addition to any/all requirements that may be mandated by the State of Connecticut and/or local licensing authorities:
Educational Qualifications:
- An Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development or a related field preferred.
- A current CDA or Early Childhood Teaching Credential preferred.
- Proof of current and active enrollment in an accredited Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- An Associate’s degree or higher in Music
Other Qualifications:
- A love for working with Toddlers and Preschoolers
- Trained singing voice, basic piano and/or guitar skills
- Ability to conduct weekly group lessons and arrange lesson plans (for children ages 2-5).
- Satisfactory criminal background check required
- A Medical Statement signed by a physician required
