Mitesco, Inc., is searching for its first Controller who will develop strong accounting policies and procedures, form the internal financial team, and appropriately lead system transitions as we expand into multiple markets of the United States. Mitesco is headquartered in St. Louis Park, MN.
Mitesco’s wholly owned subsidiary, The Good Clinic, is growing at a rapid pace, with plans to open at least 50 clinics in the U.S. during the next three years. The company operates full-scope primary care clinics for patients ages 12 and older and is currently opening clinic locations in Minneapolis/St. Paul and the Denver metro areas. The Good Stuff
Our top candidate will lean on previous healthcare experience to streamline and manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. One of your top priorities is to observe, absorb, and assess our current state so you can drive process improvements that increase efficiencies and value-added services to internal/external customers.
You love a challenge, which is helpful as you dive into complex derivative and stock option accounting. Managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, analyzing financial data, and forecasting revenue is also in your wheelhouse. We are currently using QuickBooks, but you’ll lead the transition to a more robust ERP system within the first year.
Collaboration is paramount in this role as you manage external audit vendors and participate in annual budgeting. You’ll also partner closely with the leadership team to learn the intricacies of our business so we can achieve our growth goals.

Responsibilities
- Lead monthly financial close process in conjunction with external accounting firm, with a significant focus on revenue cycle accounting and reporting
- Supervise preparation of financial statements including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Develop financial/accounting policies and procedures and implement relevant controls
- Support improvement of financial and operational performance by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions to management
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, treasury, tax, and payroll
- Manage annual financial statement audit and relationship with external auditors
- Support the integration of physician practices and MSO-level accounting
- Support financing and partnering transactions including capital raises
- Manage the Company’s accounting, procurement, and T&E related systems
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes, scenario analysis, and ad-hoc financial analysis
- Assist with specific projects and initiatives unique to a fast-growing start-up, such as systems updates and business process improvements
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- 5 years of corporate accounting and finance experience
- Prior experience in the health care industry
- Ability to work in the St. Louis Park office with the rest of the team with some flexibility to work from home
- Experience with QuickBooks
- System transition experience is preferred to help through the ERP transition
- Advanced Office skills; able to design Excel workbooks necessary to analyze data and present findings using formulas, lookup, tables, and pivot charts
- Thorough knowledge of general accounting methods, GAAP reporting and compliance
- CPA certification is preferred
- Ability to focus on details and perform functions with accuracy
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work and communicate effectively at all levels within and external to the organization
