What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Manager/Coordinator position at The Haight?
Who we are looking for: Someone who is organized, motivated, proactive, interested, and experienced in the wedding/events industry. You will be assisting with the day-of-event tasks that include solving problems, making sure things run smoothly, and keeping tasks and activities on a timeline. You must be upbeat, creative as well as a logical thinker, reliable, trustworthy, and a problem-solver.
Hours & Pay: Anywhere from 8-14 hours per event. You must have FULL availability on the day you sign up. It is $15 /hr per event worked. The earliest you could be requested to arrive is 8am and the latest will be 1am unless outside circumstances occur day-of
Flexible Schedule: You get to choose when and how often you want to work. We use a google spreadsheet that all assistants have access to and you get to sign up based on your personal schedule. We require you to work at least 2 events every month to stay on our roster.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
· Assist with setting up as well as overseeing the set-up process of the event
· Working with and assisting catering companies and other vendors with
load-in, set-up, and load-out processes
· Guiding and helping guests within the space
· Working lift and elevator services for guests, caterers, and vendors
· Responsible for being present throughout the entirety of the event
· Working with catering crew and staff in flipping ceremony space to
reception space
· Helping maintain a clean reception space throughout the event
· Assist with ceremony duties, including:
o Directing members of the wedding party during ceremonies
o Help with lineups and orders of the wedding party
o Releasing wedding party on cue
· Manage and oversee the day-of timeline
· Be available to vendors for questions throughout the event
· Opening and/or closing of the space
Requirements (include but are not limited to):
· Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time
· Must be able to go up and down a flight of stairs multiple times per
day
· Must be able to carry and lift heavy items up to 50lbs
· Must have a personable, friendly demeanor
· Ability to effectively deal with customers, some of whom will require high
levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate
information and resolve conflicts.
· Must have the ability to work weeknights, weekends, and Holidays as required
· Willing to work all types of weddings/events regardless of religion, tradition, etc.
