What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAFÉ WORKER (Pay DOE) position at The Heritage Community?
The Heritage Community is a residential treatment program for adolescents, ages 13 – 18. We have our own Rocky Mountain Café to prepare and serve meals for our students and employees. A Worker within the Café contributes to the overall success of our kitchen by assisting in all posts. We seek someone who is an excellent team player, resourceful, with the ability to handle fast-paced work. Our ideal candidate is someone who has previous kitchen experience, as they will assist with duties such as cooking and preparing meals, preparing salad bar selections, serving entrées, dishwashing, and stocking supplies. Schedule:
- 2 positions available. 1 full-time and 1 part-time.
- Full-time schedule will work generally 11 AM - 6 PM on weekdays, with potential weekend shifts. Manager is willing to be negotiable.
- Part-time schedule will be evenings, generally 2 PM - 7 PM, with weekend shifts included.
- Details of schedule and shifts will be discussed during the interview process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist Cooks in the preparation of meals, along with chopping fruits, vegetables, making dressings, and preparing other choices for the salad bar. Other food preparation duties could include baking and dessert.
- Serve food to the students and employees in a cafeteria style service line.
- Be aware of special diets and food allergies while preparing and serving meals to the students, as coordinated by the Registered Dietitian.
- Fill in as a Dishwasher, when needed, to wash and clean plates, cups, cooking pots and pans, utensils, etc. using a high-pressure washer.
- Assist in cleaning, sweeping, and mopping the café and kitchen each shift.
- Remove trash and assist in stocking supplies.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Basic skills and aptitude in cooking methods, equipment, and procedures.
- Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills, particularly when assisting / serving youth and employees during meal times.
- Demonstrated maturity and good judgement.
Qualifications:
- Current Food Handler's Permit or must obtain permit upon hire.
- Post high school, being at least 18 years of age or older to apply.
- Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
