General Counsel

Responsibilities:

• Advising executive members on new laws, existing laws and legal rights that impact the business
• Overseeing the legal matters of the business as a whole, including acting as the business’ legal representative
• Maintaining knowledge of the company’s legal documents and operations
• Crafting and reviewing legal strategy in response to any litigation
• Responsible for drafting, negotiation, and execution of contracts, leases, subleases, and related agreements.
• Keeping a record of all legal documents and proceedings for the company
• Facilitating filings of licensing forms and other statutory requirements
• Communicating with outside counsel

Qualifications

• Qualified candidates must have experience in mortgage and other secured lending laws and regulations, including the provisions of Truth-in-Lending/Regulation Z, RESPA, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act/Regulation B, the Fair Housing Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and UDAAP
• A Juris Doctor degree
• A license in good standing to practice law in at least one state
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proven analytical and organizational skills
• Demonstrably strong writing skills
• Experience in working directly with state and federal regulators

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $100,000.00 per year
