ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Urban Planner is responsible for assisting the Senior Vice President of Commercial and Residential Planning with urban planning activities to enhance the value of Summerlin's commercial and mixed-used development areas. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Commercial and Residential Planning.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Assist with forward planning activities for all commercial and mixed-use developments in Summerlin.
Review site plans of commercial and mixed-use developments for consistency with best planning practices and compliance with neighborhood district design criteria and Summerlin development standards. Coordinate with Strategic Development Team, in-house engineering group, and consultants as needed throughout the planning process.
Review urban streetscapes, plaza, and open space designs to ensure consistency with landscape criteria and design goals. Participate in post landscape and hardscape installation with the Construction and HOA departments.
Attend project OAC meetings as requested to address all commercial planning topics and work within a team construct to promote viable planning ideas to enhance the project.
Meet with city, county, and agency officials regarding development plans and land use issues as needed.
Present projects at public meetings with planning commissioners and agency officials as needed to gain approval and public support for a project.
Track wireless cell tower and DAS system installations in Summerlin. Update the Cellular Master Plan as needed.
Assist with preparation of presentations for Project Board Meetings, annual budget meetings, and internal project meetings.
ABOUT YOU:
7 to 10 years of experience in land use planning, urban development, and master planned communities.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, or Land Planning.
Familiar with building code regulations, zoning regulations, environmental regulations, and other factors that may affect how land is used.
Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated, and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to interact effectively as part of a team.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and multiple deadlines.
Good problem solver and creative thinker.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Powerpoint, Adobe Creative Suite, and Xcel; Revit and Sketchup a plus.
Howard Hughes follows a hybrid work schedule and physical presence is required onsite.
