Overview:
The Manager, Internal Communications is a key connection-point between a number of communications functions, supporting internal and external communications channels such as: HR/internal communications, marketing, social media, staff events, and executive communications. Although this role may occasionally support external communications, the primary focus is on internal-facing communications. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, a strategic and creative thinker, storyteller, self-starter, and able to manage projects and partner with a wide range of internal stakeholders, including senior executives. This individual has a passion for supporting senior leaders in creating messages and providing detailed planning so the organization can inspire, motivate and engage internal and external partners. Through their writing and engagement, this individual will help to inspire and inform colleagues, helping them connect with our strategic plan and understand their role in contributing to the organization’s success. This position supports the Director - Communications, PR & Media and a broad spectrum of volunteers, staff and partners with communications efforts. Candidates should have strong writing skills, attention to detail, keen awareness of deadlines, interpersonal skills, and ability to multitask on a variety of projects.
Responsibilities:

Manage, create and support internal-facing communications

Partner with key stakeholders, including the HR team, to develop and execute an internal communications strategy that helps to inform and inspire IIA employees.

Create an internal communications content calendar and manage internal communications channels, including newsletter, intranet, TV screens, staff events, etc. This includes collecting and drafting content, content review, layout, distribution, etc.

Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.

Manage The IIA’s current intranet site and support the rollout of a new intranet platform within the next year.

Draft messages or scripts from senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form.

Ensure alignment between internal and external messages.

Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.

Proactively solicit and plan staff communications and events with Human Resources and the CEO office, including strategic initiatives, organizational milestones, holiday messages to staff, and more.

Partner with Director – Communications, PR and Media to manage internal-facing components of crisis communications plan.

Provide occasional support for executive or external-facing communications

Provide presentation support to our CEO, as needed for employee events

Partner with Manager – Communications & PR to ensure alignment between internal and external messaging

Provide external communications support, as needed
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal communications, journalism and/or corporate communications.

High-level proficiency in critical communication skills.

Experience working with global partners or in a global organization is a plus.

Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written communications.
