- Conducts research, reviews, and presents zoning cases, subdivision plat applications, special use permits, and zoning text amendments to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council, and variance requests to the Board of Adjustments.
- Provides technical assistance to citizens, contractors, developers, and City staff on the City’s Development Ordinances, Comprehensive Plan, and other planning policies.
- Reviews and proposes updates to the City’s Development codes and ordinances.
- Acts as a liaison to the Board of Adjustments and Planning and Zoning Commission, preparing and presenting agenda items.
- Conducts site reviews of development applications and projects to assess site conditions, neighborhood context, utility infrastructure, and related information.
- Prepares publications, notices, and ordinances for application requests.
- High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field required.
- Over 3 years of related experience required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license in the State of Texas.
- Must obtain an AICP Planner certificate within 1 year of hire.
- Knowledge of planning principles, historic preservation, neighborhood engagement, Federal and State laws, municipal government functions, and legal terminology related to development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prepare clear and effective written materials for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in standard and specialized software applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective workplace relationships.
- Experience in making public presentations is preferred.
