Judge Group is actively seeking an experienced and dynamic Plant Director to lead our client's Beef Kill Slaughter Plant operations in the Springfield, MO area. The Plant Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the plant's daily operations, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, optimizing production efficiency, managing a diverse workforce, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Provide strategic direction and hands-on leadership to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the slaughter plant. Oversee all operational processes, from receiving livestock to processing and packaging beef products.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all operations adhere to relevant safety, environmental, and industry regulations. Maintain a thorough understanding of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to food safety and processing.
- Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control measures throughout the production process to ensure the highest standards of product quality and consistency. Identify and address any quality-related issues promptly.
- Production Efficiency: Develop and implement strategies to optimize production efficiency, minimize waste, and enhance overall plant productivity. Streamline processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements where necessary.
- Workforce Management: Lead and manage a diverse team of supervisors, department heads, and frontline staff. Foster a positive work environment, provide coaching and training, and ensure that employees have the necessary tools to succeed.
- Health and Safety: Prioritize the health and safety of all employees by enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular safety training, and implementing best practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the plant's operational budget, including cost control measures, resource allocation, and financial reporting. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational optimization.
- Supplier and Stakeholder Relations: Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders to build and maintain strong relationships. Address concerns and ensure smooth communication to facilitate business operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying areas for innovation, operational enhancement, and cost-saving measures. Lead or participate in initiatives to enhance plant processes and technology.
- Reporting: Generate regular operational reports for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators, production metrics, and areas for improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Food Science, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience (5 years) in a senior leadership role within the meat processing or slaughter industry, with a track record of managing large teams and complex operations.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, quality control standards, and industry best practices.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and drive cost efficiencies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with employees, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
