JOB DESCRIPTION
The Benefits Analyst is responsible for administering and advising employees and management on the interpretation of benefit policies, programs, and procedures. This individual is also responsible for analyzing data and methods and approaches to resolve employee benefit problems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads the day-to-day administration of the employee benefit programs (e.g. health and welfare plans, voluntary benefits, 401(k) retirement plan).
- Assists with an audit of all benefit plans
- Carries out administrative work involved in the benefit functions and maintains related records.
- Ensures that programs are carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Advises individuals regarding eligibility and coverage for such programs as health, dental, vision, group life, long- and short-term disability, 401k and other such policies.
- Adheres to COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA provisions.
- Communicates provisions of benefit packages by way of benefit booklets, new employee orientations, and annual open enrollment.
- Analyzes data and processes and creates monthly dashboards.
- Serves as the direct contact for 401(K).
- Conducts monthly plan/participant audits to ensure accuracy and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Identifies future trends in order to ensure top-of-the-line options for employees.
- Responsible for on-going financial analysis of all benefit plans including working with Finance and Accounting to insure accurate accruals and payments.
- Maintains working relationships with various cross-functional teams in Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Energy Dispatch, and other areas of Human Resources.
- Promptly responds to employee concerns, questions, and requests.
- Completes various special projects as needed.
Work Experience/ Education:
- Degree from a 4-year college or university, or equivalent experience preferred.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- MS Office Suite, specifically Excel.
