ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are in growth mode and seek a skilled Paralegal/Legal Assistant to help support our litigation efforts. Our firm files a high volume of debt collection lawsuits on behalf of banks, credit unions, credit card companies, debt buyers and commercial entities across a variety of product lines. You will work closely with a growing team of seasoned litigators and legal support staff in a collaborative environment.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to maintain a professional demeanor while managing multiple tasks in a dynamic setting. The candidate must be detail oriented, possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, be able to work with minimal supervision, and most importantly bring a “Can Do!” attitude to the office each day. While debt collection experience is preferred, we are more willing to train the right person. The firm is growing and making critical operational changes to support that growth, so a degree of adaptability is important as well.
This role can be remote but some level of physical presence in our Newton office may be required from time-to-time. Rest assured, however, that we have implemented comprehensive social distancing practices!
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Compile, prepare and summarize relevant information and materials to be used by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of complaints, motions, briefs, pretrial memorandums, and other legal documents
- Maintain and update active case files in the firm’s database
- Perform legal and operational research as part of case prep and suit filing
- Interact with clients as directed to gather appropriate support documentation
- Assist attorneys with all aspects of a case file management, including research, document production, accuracy reviews, and cost tracking
- Collaborate with operational and IT staff on enhancements to database management with a goal to increase legal production capabilities and efficiency
- Listen to and communicate with team members both verbally and in written form to understand team goals, then help execute on the plan to realize those goals
- Multitasking, prioritizing, and working efficiently from one task to the next
