The Director of Marketing will report to the CEO, manage a team of 2-3 and will operate as a ‘player/coach.’
Role & Responsibility
Marketing strategy:
- Designing and ensuring the implementation of innovative and effective marketing strategies to support and reach our strategic and financial objectives
- Clearly communicating the marketing strategy and vision to the wider team
- Along with the CEO, setting specific marketing goals and KPIs to deliver business targets
- Collaborating with other teams to optimize campaign success
- Continually reviewing and analyzing changes to the market, consumer trends and the activities of competitors, adjusting the marketing plan if necessary
Audience acquisition:
- Setting a top-level strategy for growing our subscriber list & social media footprint
- Hitting audience growth targets
- Managing affiliate partnerships
- Developing meaningful brand awareness
- Managing digital ad spend
Audience sales:
- Ensuring the Marketing Team hits all audience registrations targets
- Drive registration revenue
Sponsor lead acquisition:
- Working alongside the Sales Team to develop effective campaigns to drive high quality in-bound leads
- Drive MQLs to sales
- Support sponsorship sales function in reaching their objectives and key results
Design & brand:
- Creating and maintaining a companywide brand and PR strategy
- Working with The Lead’s PR Agency
- Ensuring consistency and quality of branding, messaging and tone of voice across all marketing channels
- Overseeing creative aspects of the brand
- Overseeing for email and social media copy writing
- Overseeing The Lead’s website presentation
Data reporting & analysis:
- Providing the Senior Leadership Team with data-driven recommendations to improve our work
- Tracking marketing metrics and trends, including conversion rates and web analytics, and making recommendations
- Conducting ongoing analysis of marketing activity to maximize ROI and supporting the Marketing Manager in adjusting campaigns as necessary
- Collaborating on the maintenance and developing our CRM
- Drive data insights for improved decision making and performance
- Implement effective segmentation strategy for hyper-targeting
Financial Management:
- Assuming overall accountability for marketing budget planning and management
Leadership and people management:
- Line management of the Marketing Manager
- Bring continuity to all related departments: Content, Audience Development and Marketing
- Working closely with the Audience Development leadership
- Managing key timelines and campaigns
- Providing support, coaching and training to the Marketing Manager and Creative Manager to ensure individual, team and company targets are met, and KPIs are attained
- Fostering a positive, motivational and results-driven environment
- Working with the Senior Leadership Team to identify new business and revenue opportunities
- Own the marketing strategy message to other key stakeholders
Experience & Requirements
A self-starter with leadership qualities gained working and managing teams and/or strategy. You will be able to lead, inspire and deliver in a matrix environment. You’ll have:
- Bachelor's degree or more advanced degree from a reputable university/institution
- 7 years of experience in a B2B or B2C marketing role. Specific experience in conferences and events is a must
- Demonstrated cross-functional teamwork and project management experience;
- Distinctive problem solving and analytical mindset, with experience analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to guide strategy
- Excellent written and verbal communication, along with strong interpersonal skills;
- Experience managing end-to-end marketing from analysis, positioning and planning through execution of successful integrated programs
- Ability to think strategically and execute methodically
- Able to manage and meet deadlines in a non-rushed manor with foresight and planning
