What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapist PRN position at The Learning Spectrum?
The Learning Spectrum is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to work with children on the Autism Spectrum in a school based setting. This is a PRN position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect and analyze data accurately
- Monitor designated child’s IEP/Treatment Plan objectives and the progression of goals
- Complete quarter review forms for designated children
- Substitute at any given time for other staff to work with children potentially not on your regular schedule
- Identify when interventions are needed for specific children
- Work with children 1-1 or in small group settings on fine motor, gross motor, visual performance skills, sensory needs and other areas of deficit
- Complete Troubleshooting forms for Clinical Supervisors
- Seek, receive and apply feedback appropriately and professionally
- Lift and transport children across the room or as necessary while maintaining their safety
- Participate in all fundraising activities through the distribution of materials and information. Attend designated fundraising and public relations events as requested
- Attend all Staff Development Days
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess the ability to perform non-violent crisis intervention techniques, including verbal and physical redirection and guidance of potentially physically aggressive students during crisis situations.
- Must possess the ability to react quickly and be sufficiently mobile to redirect students that could be injurious to themselves or others, i.e. stop a child from running out of a building, physically redirect a child with severe behaviors, etc.
- Must be able to physically assist with evacuating students during emergency situations.
- Must earn and maintain full certification(s) in assigned crisis management programs
