What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool For All Lead Teacher/Family Educator position at The Learning Tree?
We are seeking Teachers/ Family Support Specialists to support our Illinois Preschool for All (PFA) Program! This state funded program supports preschool age children.
To be QUALIFIED for this position, we require a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and
an Illinois Professional Educator License for Early Childhood ages birth to 3rd grade. Previous childcare experience is preferred.
Required Shift: Monday - Friday
Employment type: Contracted, Full-time, 195 days per year (180 days in school)
Compensation: $45,000 - $55,000 per year, based on education and experience

Main Job Responsibilities:
- Provide learning experiences in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, fine arts, foreign language, social-emotional development, and other subject matter suited to the needs of children.
- Develop and use instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of children with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities.
- Provide ongoing observation and authentic assessment of children and maintain documentation of each child’s progress and growth.
- Plan and coordinate the work of aides, assistants, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips to obtain the maximum benefit from their efforts.
- Communicate regularly with parents by means of parent meetings, newsletters, home visits, and individual parent conferences.
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs as appropriate.
- Fully implement all components of the Creative Curriculum as aligned with IELDS.
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans that meet the developmental, social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of all children in the class.
- Conduct parent teacher conferences twice a year.
- Meet with the center director to help manage the grant; meet with teaching assistant to go over lesson plans and share teaching strategies.
- Establish the PFA program as a place that invites participation and partnership through the development of a wide variety of “welcome” activities for parent/families.
- Facilitate parent education, playgroups, and family development programs.
- Conduct home visits and provide support to parents and their children.
- Coordinate resources (e.g., transportation, childcare, etc.) for the purpose of providing the parent an opportunity to become an active participant in school activities/organizations.
- Collaborate with local and state agencies.
- Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
- Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
