Mission: The Link works with youth and young families to overcome the impacts of poverty and social injustice.
Our 23 programs provide supportive housing, intensive case management services, and skills development to youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness, sex trafficking and/or involvement in the juvenile justice system.

Position Specifics
Hiring Salary: $20.07/hour
Job Type: Full-time, Non-exempt
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Hours/Days: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week.

AGENCY COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS
The Link maintains a COVID-19 preparedness plan that mitigates the transmission and spread of COVID-19. Programs also maintain practices to ensure the safety of staff, clients, residents, and community members.

BASIC FUNCTION
The Link’s scattered-site housing programs provide housing and services to young people (18-24) who are exiting homelessness.The Housing Coordinator role is to increase access to our housing programs for young people who are currently homeless.This is done through partnering with landlords and property managers, community education, and working with applicants to ensure eligibility, housing choice, and best program fit.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintain housing vacancies and process applications for The Link’s scattered-site housing programs
- Locate and secure available, affordable housing options for applicants
- Work with applicants to navigate the system and ensure program/subsidy eligibly, and assist them in filling out necessary paperwork and documentation
- Communicate with case management team on capacity, access, and vacancies to ensure that programs are operating at capacity at all times
- Work in tandem with case management team to ensure smooth transition from homelessness to housing for new clients
- Network, develop, and maintain high quality partnerships with Property and Asset Managers.
- Outreach to realtors, landlords, housing developers, and other housing providers to identify new and existing housing opportunities and build a strong inventory of available housing options for clients
- Assist with landlord mediation when needed
- Work within the community to educate on the need for increased affordable housing options for young people experiencing homelessness
- Promote The Link’s housing programs through community education and outreach
- Consistent attendance is a must

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of community resources for singles, youth, and culturally-specific populations

- Clean driving record, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to pass a criminal background check
- Knowledge of tenant rights/responsibilities
- Knowledge of landlord rights/responsibilities
- Negotiating skills; assist youth with barriers gain access to appropriate housing and advocating on their behalf to potential landlords.
- Ability to be flexible in scheduling
- Access to reliable vehicle and ability to maintain good driving record and insurance levels as directed by The Link, to fulfill job duties that require travel into the community
- Ability to manage caseloads of up to 15 youth in search of housing
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA degree in Housing, Human Services, or related field or 3 years’ experience working towards housing individuals who have been homeless and/or have other housing barriers required
- .Experience with system navigation and assisting people with benefit and program eligibility
- Experience in housing –knowledge of stakeholders including Property and Asset Managers, landlord relationships, and other community development opportunities and projects
- Knowledge of HUD, GRH, or other subsidy operations and eligibility components
- Successful completion and satisfactory results of a DHS background check
- Have a valid driver’s license and meet insurability requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS
- The employee is regularly required to talk or hear
- The employee is frequently required to use manual dexterity for use of objects, tools or controls as well as visual acuity
- The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- The employee must lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Work environment for this position includes offices, common and residential space with a low to high noise level
- Requires ability to drive
