JOB DESCRIPTION: Pre-Engineered Metal Building Estimator

Position Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Operations Manager

Summary/Objective

Estimator will be responsible for project take-offs, conceptual development and estimating of pre-engineered metal building, project specifications review, and preliminary value engineering.

Essential Functions

· Prepare material take-offs and estimates based on plans, specifications, sketches, drawings and customer written or verbal descriptions.

· Effective use of MBS software to model, pre-design and estimate complex building structures of pre-engineered metal building projects.

· Generate panel layout, panel cut list and trim list based on project documents and customer requests utilizing CAD based estimating software or handwritten calculations.

· Source and price materials as needed to prepare estimates.

· Exhibit a positive, friendly and helpful attitude toward customers and co-workers while being sensitive to their needs.

· Meet with sales teams, customers, architects, and all relevant parties of prospective projects.

· Determine products required by customer and suggest additional items related to the customer’s needs.

· Handle and resolve customer issues/complaints timely and to the customer’s satisfaction.

· Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of The Metal Store’s products, services, and pricing structure.

· Keep abreast of new product information and any product promotions.

· Understand and maintain proficiency in estimating software, spreadsheets, and word processing programs.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

· Experience with MBS or other structural analysis software.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

· Excellent Verbal and written communication skills

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Strong math skills, including trigonometry and adding/subtracting imperial measurements.

· Ability to read and understand plans and specifications for detailed takeoffs

Education and Experience

· Experience with Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings

· 1-5 years of experience working in Metal Building Software (MBS)

· Legally eligible to work in the United States

· High School Diploma.

· Bilingual in English and Spanish, not required but preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Regularly sit, stand, and walk. Most work performed in an office environment.

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer and utilizing office equipment.

Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
