A full-time Research Analyst II position is currently available in Dr. Kent Kiehl’s laboratory at The Mind Research Network in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Research Analyst II will process and analyze neuroimaging data (magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI)) collected for grant funded studies that investigate brain structure and function in criminal offenders. Will also evaluate the quality and validity of collected neuroimaging data using statistical analysis tools, train research staff/students in using software packages for the analysis of MRI data such as SPM, AFNI and FSL, and assist with the preparation of papers for publications, presentations, conferences and workshops.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a biomedical engineering, computational neuroscience, computer science or a related scientific discipline and up to 4 years of demonstrated related research experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with a variety of programming languages including, but not limited to, C, C and Matlab; familiarity with neuroimaging techniques and analysis; demonstrated working knowledge of UNIX platforms; and a familiarity with neuroanatomy and neurophysiology.
Must have superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; a high degree of professionalism, excellent judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines is required. Must have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Preferred computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Outlook and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Python, R, and/or Matlab and knowledge of fMRI analysis software, e.g. AFNI, SPM or FSL.
