POSITION: Pool Guard
Department: Access & Safety
Supervises: N/A
Reports to: Access Control & Safety Services Manager
Basic Function: Implement all water safety policies and procedures. Supervise members and guest in and around the swimming pool.
Essential duties and responsibilities: The following job duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Greet arriving and departing guests.
- Report to work on time, in uniform (red shorts, pool guard shirt, whistle, and sunscreen). Uniform must be worn at all time while on duty.
- Verify rescue aids and equipment are ready for use and accessible.
- Set up all pool lounge chairs in a neat and uniform manner.
- Wipe down all lounge chairs, cocktail tables, and fire pit seating.
- Skim pool for any debris.
- Check restrooms on an hourly basis to ensure they are operational and clean.
- Wash down pool deck on a weekly basis and as needed.
- Open all umbrellas as needed, weather permitting.
- Check all garbage cans around pool on a daily basis and empty as needed.
- Supervise and observe swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
- One lifeguard must be in the chair and monitoring swimmers at all times while the pool is in use.
- Ask all members and guests to exit the pool and pool deck when there is inclement weather or if the lightning detection alarm has sounded.
- Enforce all posted pool rules.
- Set up the Game Zone on Saturday and Sunday.
- Report any safety or enforcement issues or member issues to Facilities Maintenance Manager.
- Performs any additional tasks as needed.

- Maintain The Moorings Yacht & Country Club commitment to member satisfaction while performing job duties.
- Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with Members, their guests or other employee.
- Comply with all rules, regulations and policies as stated in the Employee Handbook and/or established by the Board of Governors.
- Adhere to the Club’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
- Must be cognizant of the rules and regulations of the facility for the safety and welfare of the staff and members.
- Must be able to work well under pressure and meet all deadlines.
- Adhere to all stated policies and procedures.
- Adhere to appearance standards consistently.
Requirements
Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Skills:
- Strong communication and cooperative skills.
- Positive interpersonal, customer service skills.
Knowledge and Certificates: CPR and AED Certification preferred. Life guard certification preferred but not required.
Experience: Prior recreation or lifeguard experience preferred.
Physical Demands of Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met and/or encountered by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Requires outdoor work. Outdoor work requires ability to work in a variety of temperatures throughout the winter and summer months common to Florida.
- Flexible days/hours; weekends/holidays/evenings required.
- While performing duties of the job, employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, and reach overhead.
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee is required to regularly kneel or crouch, bend, reach overhead and walk.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

- Uniform required (Club provided).
- Guard equipment.
Classification: Hourly, non-exempt.
Supervision: No supervisory duties are included in this position.
