Part-time Bookkeeper Position in Music Industry
If you like music and have a passion for helping others, then please consider applying for the part-time position of Bookkeeper at The Music Center. You’ll have the chance to experience being a part of the organization that runs the Battle Creek Symphony, the Community Music School, multiple choir programs, and music classes in a variety of categories. The successful candidate will be responsible for recording all financial transactions, reconciling accounts, maintaining all financial records, and managing all aspects of payroll. The Bookkeeper will also work closely with our external accounting firm.
To be successful at this fast-paced, ever-evolving position, you’ll need a high school diploma or equivalent…a degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or relevant field is preferred. A minimum of 3 years' experience in a bookkeeper position is required, plus proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks. Attention to detail and accuracy is mandatory. The successful candidate must be able to complete all tasks with little direct oversight.
Since The Music Center is a non-profit, our pay isn’t at the top of the scale at $14 an hour to start, but increases are possible for a hard worker, you’ll get free tickets to most of our events, and join a strong team which is moving forward, even at this difficult Covid time. Hours will be about 20 per week with some flexibility to set your own hours.
