Job Title: Academic Program Specialist Department: Student Life | Housing Administration The Academic Program Specialist, reporting to the Assistant Director of STEP Operations, provides administrative and programmatic support to the Second-year Transformational Experience Program (STEP). STEP is a program designed to focus on student success and development and will allow students the opportunity to engage in activities that cater to their individual interests and needs. STEP is administered by a team consisting of staff and faculty from the Office of Academic Affairs and Student Life. The Academic Program Specialist will report through the Academic Partnership and Career Success unit in the Office of Student Life and will work closely with colleagues from the Office of Academic Affairs. The Specialist evaluates and reconciles receipts for STEP Fellowships and tracks and reviews post-project student reflections. This role reviews submitted revised STEP Signature Project Proposals and addendums and manages and tracks student communications for eligibility components including financial wellness, the STEP Expo, and professional development co-curricular programs. The Specialist helps manage STEP email and phone by delivering accurate and timely responses as well as tracks and communicates student participation for cohort assignments, changes, and cancellations. This role supports the successful completion of events such as the Student Welcome, STEP Expos, and Faculty Mentor Lecture. Additional Information: Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Required Knowledge/Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong customer service; Proficient in key office software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Project management skills; Demonstrated strong organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills; Adaptable and able to make decisions in ambiguous situations. Additional Education Desired: Master's degree in an appropriate field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Pay Range: $17.10-$22.50 Ohio State is focused on enhancing the health and safety of our community. By the start of employment, all newly hired employees must receive at least the first dose of a two-dose series or a single dose of a one-dose series COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals who choose a two-dose series vaccination must receive the second dose within 45 days of their start date. Proof of vaccination will be required at time of hire. Candidates may request a medical or religious exemption from the vaccination requirement. Campus employees may also request an exemption for personal reasons. Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, College of Medicine or OSUP Employees are not eligible for personal exemptions. All exemptions are subject to Ohio State’s approval and subject to change, including revocation, due to legal and regulatory requirements.
